Dry Processing

Dry process is a process applied to give the desired used look to denim garments. This application is generally applied mechanically. Dry processes can be applied in more than one way.

  • Emery

  • Sandblasting (Rodeo)

  • Laser Effects

  • Whiskers

  • Fraying

Emery

Sizing material creates a certain hardness in the fabric. Thus, sandpaper can be applied more easily for abrasive purposes during dry processing. Therefore, the dry process is a process applied in the first stage. Dry treatment applied to the garment, which has been removed from the sizing material or washed before the process, may not give the desired appearance.

Sanding is done on raw denim clothing. There are several steps to be followed before sanding which is one of the most common methods of dry processes. The clothes to be sanded are placed on apparatuses called “mannequins” that can be inflated with airbags. According to the selected model, grinding is done with sandpaper. The intensity of the abrasive form is directly proportional to the size of the sandpaper used.

It used to be much more difficult to maintain the standard in sanding. Robots developed with the improving technology both reduced the margin of error and increased the production volume. Although we have integrated all these developments into our production part, it is not possible to say that they have replaced natural aging. Although robots are successful in some standard patterns, it is not possible to say the same for specific special models.

Sandblasting

As a result of the sandblasting process, regional discoloration occurs. When we compare the results obtained with sandblasting with sandpaper, more natural and blurry results are obtained. So how is the sandblasting process done? Pressurized quartz sand is sprayed onto the painted surface of raw denim fabric. In this way, it is ensured that the indigo dyestuff is removed from the fabric surface. This whole process is called sandblasting.

The units where the sandblasting process is carried out consist of a tube that combines the compressed air and the sand, a gun that allows the sand to be sprayed to the desired area correctly, and a vacuum system that ensures the removal of the sprayed sand from the environment. The desired blasting effect should be adjusted in direct proportion to the pressure of the sand and the applied time, and should be applied specifically. Sandblasting is a job that requires skilled labor and requires mastery.

Laser Finishing

Laser method, like other methods, is a method applied to give effect to denim fabric. In this process, the places where the laser machine touches are burned and the effect is given to the fabric. The laser method, which is used in many engineering applications today, can be used in different areas in our industry. The laser effect method used in the denim aging method does not have a very old history. There is a great feature that distinguishes this aging method from other methods. The repeatability of the burning process applied in the laser aging method is very high.

Developing technology continues to make our work easier, as in all areas of life. People who succeed in incorporating the developing technology into all areas of daily life can access convenience in many areas more easily. In the laser effect method, the shapes drawn with the relevant computer programs are transferred to the fabric through dyestuffs and laser beams. We call the entire chain of these processes laser washing/finishing. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about other methods, and this method. As the WKM Jeans team, which has been working in the sector for many years, we are proud of meeting the needs of our customers in the best way.

Whiskers

The mustache process is applied to trousers and jackets. In trousers, it is made on the front body and on the back knee. In jackets, it is applied to the front body and elbow area. Mustache application is the name given to the process applied to the separation of the indigo dye on the fabric from the fabric and the area where the dye decomposes.

Fraying

Fraying is applied to various parts of the fabric. The fraying process applied to areas such as trouser legs, pocket edges, jacket collars, cuff ends provides a variety of aged appearance in the applied area. Fraying is usually done as a final application. Because the fabric that has been applied fraying has a natural structure that gets older with each wash. This application is usually applied at the last stage for fabrics that do not want excessive wear.
